2. Reduced interior fogging. Why does a car windscreen form more mist at the edges than at the centre with blower heating on? This is due to the warmer air being able to hold more moisture and when the air touches the colder edges of the windscreen, as this has the colder rain on it, which has fallen from altitude, unlike the wiped central area of the windscreen. The edges are colder, the air cannot hold so much moisture as it cools and condensation is formed in this area. Try it for yourself. Next time you are in a car and it is raining turn off the windscreen heater blower and observe which area of the windscreen is first to have mist/interior fog. More fogging occurs on the passenger side at the top side arc where the wiper does not wipe, This passenger arc area is the largest surface area not being wiped by a wiper, where as the wiped area remains fog free for far longer. This is not by chance, car manufacturers have put a lot of thought and design into this process and do not want this to happen on the driver's side of the windshield so design wipers accordingly to avoid an unwiped area on the driver's side which will fog.
